Yelp is a a review site for virtually any brick and mortar business or service.  They make it easy to to find all the best local options, with filtering options for distance, hours, ratings, etc.  Most listings have several reviews, giving a pretty good idea of how they treat their customers.

Over the years they’ve been accused of extortion scams, calling businesses with bad reviews and implying that spending money on advertising can help improve their ratings.  On the other hand, it’s a known fact that Yelp is extremely hard to game (post fake positive reviews) and that there are a lot of business owners who would like to brush off their bad reviews as ‘fake’ and are looking for a way to prove it.  Regardless of where the truth lies, they’re still the most reliable review site and have one of the best user bases.
